By Skin Cancer Institute |August 11, 2021

If you see patients with skin cancer concerns in your practice, it is essential that you stay up to date with the latest melanoma guidelines. This helpful guide prepared by Professor David Wilkinson - who designed and led the development of the only Master of Medicine degree in skin cancer - provides an outline for the management of melanoma in a primary care or skin cancer practice.

The guidelines - which were prepared in August 2021 and provide the most up to date information on primary care melanoma management - cover:

  • Diagnosis: Guidelines for approaching the biopsy of a suspicious pigmented skin lesion, including evidence-based recommendations and practice points.
  • Staging: Guidelines for the staging of melanoma in situ and invasive melanoma, from stage 0 to stage 4.
  • Treatment options in primary care and when to refer to specialist care units.
